Three ways good
Since 1997, Hako Shikin has worked by sanpō yoshi: a transaction should be good for the house, good for the buyer, and good for the society both answer to. Our clients’ names travel on everything we produce, so we choose our vendors, partners and suppliers with care.
Ten expectations
The law first
Vendors, partners and suppliers follow the laws that apply to their work. Where our standard asks for more, we expect the higher one.
Quality
Work meets specification and arrives when promised. Products are safe for their intended use, and we expect to hear in advance about a change of materials, process or facility.
People
Lawful wages and hours, safe workplaces, and no forced or child labor. No harassment, and no discrimination.
Integrity
Honest dealing. No bribes or kickbacks, and conflicts of interest disclosed.
Confidentiality
Client artwork, files, lists and tooling are used only for the job they were provided for, and are not shared or reused.
Sensitive information
Health, financial and personal information is handled with care, and under the agreements the work calls for.
Subcontracting
We expect to know who is doing the work before another company joins one of our orders.
Conduct
Public conduct consistent with these values, and respect for the people a business works with and serves.
Environment
Sensible use of materials, lawful disposal, and a better option suggested when one exists.
Communication
Straight answers, and prompt notice when something changes or goes wrong.
Chosen, not policed
The vendors, partners and suppliers who work on a Hako Shikin order, and the suppliers they use for that work. We ask them to carry the same expectations into their own supply chain.
We consider these standards when we choose who to work with, and we may ask how a vendor, partner or supplier meets them.
